Left Second Life

I finally got sick of all the problems associated with Second life, so I left it. The bugs, the crashing, scripts not working right, servers for some of the things in SL crashing and  it was extremely badly managed.

Linden Labs decided what you wanted, and that's what you got, no matter how useless it was. They're the only company I know, who can turn gold into lead.

Second life was a market leader, then it stalled and finally went backwards. The only reason it's still ahead is most virtual worlds don't have viewers for the mac. Shame really when you consider many of the best builders etc in Second Life use macs

Maybe someone can build a virtual world for mac users, and we can compare results on quality of builds.

Printing my own work

I got fed up of trying to find agents to sell my work under licence, so I'm going to give up creation time to start printing and selling my work.
5 images will be selected at a time, and 10 A3 prints will be made of each. Available in UK mainland for now, until I can find a courier service that's a reasonable price and good reliable service.

ME/CFS exhibition in Second Life

My work is being displayed alongside others at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Murdoch%20University/134/237/41 in Second Life. It's been set up by the ME/CFS group in SL, and all art on display is by artists with ME/CFS. I have 5 pieces on display.

Groups such as this one, help bring awareness of a variety of medical conditions to the populace generally in SL. It also shows that life doesn't stop with ME/CFS, but does show that there are many creative people with this invisible disability.

A3 prints available soon

I'm happy with the quality of my printing efforts, A3 rag type paper, long life inks should ensure longevity of the prints. I'll be supplying them posted in cardboard tubes, and each print will be in a glassine type envelope to protect them.
When they're received, they will need to be put in a frame and covered with glass. The glass will help ensure a longer life to the prints, uv proofed glass is even better.
Prints will be limited to 10 of each image in A3, signed, dated and numbered. Costs will be in the region of £50 per print.

A3 printer purchased

I've just purchased an A3+ printer to do my own printing, I'll be practising with it this week and then I hope to offer limited edition prints of my work, printed, signed and dated by myself. High quality paper, and long life inks will be used.
Although I still recommend  glass in the frame to protect the print, uv and direct strong sunlight is the main problem, so cut down on that and the print should last a few hundred years before needing attention.

Cadbury is dead

An English company, Cadbury has been bought out by an American company using English money supplied buy a Scottish bank. Still with me? In other words Brown and his Darling, are still breaking up England and selling to the highest bidder, even if that bidder has to be lent money to do it.

The quicker we break up this Scottish mafia the better for England, the sooner England has a parliament of its own, or better still Independence from the Celtic 3 the better England will be.

Agent Wanted

I need an agent to sell my artwork under licence to industries globally, especially the interior design manufacturers. My website is my catalogue, it has most of my work on it.

You can use the contact form on this website to contact me.

Latest Fishing Rods

I do a fair bit of fishing in Second Life, and make money at it. I noticed how many people show off their latest fishing rod, and looked at prices of them and realised it's an entire industry where money can be made for good designs.
I went off, and made tiny fishing rods. Rods for Tiny avatars are an unexploited area really, so I decided a theme for the range and have made 2 rods up to now.

The rods were liked enough for it to get me in a cast masters hunt, only 25 sites are accepted into this hunt. And this is on my first rods, the second rod is becoming popular with tinies, and I smile when I see others use them. It's always a nice feeling to see people buy, and use items you make in Second Life.

Health & Safety gone mad

All of England is covered in ice and snow, in my area broken bones are up 300%. Yet the council have said anybody who clears the ice and snow, or grits it, will be liable to prosecution if anyone slips on it.

Then we hear a well known person banged on their window, while inside their home, to scare off teenagers trespassing on her property. The Police told her she could be prosecuted for holding a dangerous weapon in her home.

Surely anybody who doesn't remove ice and snow from their property should be prosecuted?

How can a kitchen knife be an offensive weapon? if it's illegal to have one in your home how do you cut up food for cooking? how many manufacturers are now criminals for supplying house owners with dangerous weapons? She was protecting her home against yobs trespassing on her property, why isn't the law going after the yobs?

Welcome to Gordon Brown's insane 'Britain' where the lawbreakers have more rights than law keepers. And where common sense is over ruled by centralist controlled pen pushers with their stupid laws.

Second life is Second Rate

Yet again, you try to do something simple in Second Life and you're either moving through treacle or you get crashed out.
Lindens say you can have 50 avatars in a class 5 sim, I got news for you, we had 35 in a sim and it crashed. ARC's were not high, we were fishing and everything was in slow motion before we got crashed out. That cost many of us real money, yet Lindens just point to their contractual agreements and ignore the problems they're causing.

This is the time we really need another virtual world, one with a proper economy where we can build, buy and sell. take money in and bring money out. Second Life just doesn't hack it anymore, it's unstable, buggy has lots of petty criminals, and the sex industry is taking over more and more of it.

This could be turned around, but nobody in charge seems to know what to do or sdo they have their own agenda on this one? Like making it so bad that fishing crashes more and more, and it is. Then Lindens buy out 7seas, and trash it like they did to XStreet.

A good idea wrecked.

SL Instability

SL crashed on me twice yesterday, 26th December 2009. On both occasions I was 2nd or 3rd in a fishing contest, and ranked to win money. Bad news when Linden Labs screwed up software costs you money, and they advertise SL as having an economy where you can make money. Something doesn't quite ring true about their claims does it?

SL Failure

SL failed again last night, 8pm + GMT 22/12/09, this is just one message I received - An internal error prevented us from properly updating your viewer.  The L$ balance or parcel holdings displayed in your viewer may not reflect your actual balance on the servers.

Some were stopped from logging in for over an hour. SL is very unstable these days.

Snowballs a weapon?

Snowball fights between kids who are friends can be fun for them, it's a sight that must have been enacted for centuries.

I've just seen a gang of yobs attack a mentally disabled woman's house, with snowballs they'd compressed so they were almost ice, and they threw a barrage of them at her window. hey came back 20 minutes later and repeated it.

They noticed my cctv were watching them, so my cameras were attacked too. And why did they do this, the answer is we live alone and are disabled and as such are an easy target.

Our local Police, Lancashire Constabulary are useless at stopping this. Some of these yobs have been committing neighbour nuisance and criminal offences for 10 years or so, under  Englsih laws the West Lancashire Borough Council, should have proscuted these youths to stop them committing these crimes. They have failed, the fact thay they can take 2 years to prosecute a case that takes most councils 6 months may have something to do with it.

The legal set up here in Ormskirk, West Lancashire is a sick joke.

SL Software malware

I chased the Lindens up about the malware downloaded with their software, and guess what? they're never troubled with such problems.Must be a lucky firm not to be hacked into etc by mischief makers, or are they stuck in their own fantasy world?

Second LIfe Woes again

yet again I need to get into SL to complete some business and meet people, but can't log in because of software glitches on their side. I've been trying for over an hour, and all I get is crash logger reports.

No wonder I pulled all my items for sale from their XStreet marketplace, and am actively looking for other virtual worlds to set up in.SL is a mess these days.

Tiny Christmas Carousel

I've just added a Christmas Carousel, resized for Tinies to use on my land in Second Life.
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Portabello/215/113/152

I had it resized by Sexxxy Bliss of Santa's Winter Wonderland, she built the original.

To make it work, click on green ball to go, red to stop, and on floor to get music. And it's free to use.

New Exhibition

I have a new exhibition at the Born Museum, in Second Life http://slurl.com/secondlife/Born/104/24/33
It starts on December 9th and runs until January 5th 2010. There will be a free gift for all visitors.

New IVF

Yet again, they've made improvements in ivf treatment, why?
This world is grossly overpopulated now, what kind of idiot puts money into making that overpopulation worse?
Browns Britain is insane.

Yobs & Eggs

Why do yobs get pleasure from throwing eggs at windows in gangs? There must be a scientrific name for it, to me they're just brainless idiots.
I just replaced all my cctv that protects my home, and added an infra red lamp to help the ir cameras in low light. Along come these yobs and test the system for me, the cameras got them all nicely.

I'm just waiting for the Police to turn up, that may be a long wait. So the yobs can be halfway across the country by the time the Police do arrive.

I spent 18 years in the army, we always protected our country against enemies abroad. Now it seems our biggest problem is home grown, and that includes the politician who don't let us protect our homes. England is a sad place to live now, after 13 years of Scottish rule.

More Land in SL

I used my alt av to buy more land in SL, I have over 20,000 sq m now. All of it is to be built for tinies in a village format. So cottages, shops, art gallery, wide range of activities.
The only thing I don't have is Linden water, so scripted water for swimming only.

On top of this I have  a few exhibitions of my work coming up in December or January, busy times ahead.

Swimming pool

Just built a swimming pool for my Tiny tenants in Second Life, it's going down very well. Large open space of sand, with a nicely styled swimming pool. It has to be scripted water, as linden water doesn't work at 160m height.
If I can get more land and link it to mine, I can add water slides etc. The pool is only 20 x 20 m and 8m deep, but is fast becoming a social centre of the village.

Royal Mail dispute

Why are people surprised at this Royal Mail strike? 10 years ago, Tony Blair signed a World Trade Organisation contract to privatise all government departments. That time to privatise is up, this strike has been deliberately engineered.
Royal mail will be privatised, or this government face massive fines. If you think this is fanciful, then look at what happened to Canada when they signed the same contract and were late in privatising their Postal service, it was a £20 million fine.

SL Turtle Roofs

Just finished building some bespoke rented housing in Second Life for tinies, these are a rounded wooden framed house with turtle shell like roofs. Very attractive,a nd both were let within 1/2 hour of completion and I have a waiting list for the next one.

Things are moving in the right way for me in SL, I'm expecting to start building a large swimming area this weekend, and maybe find space for kayaks and canoes.

2010 English Elections

How do we get England out of the debt, the idiot New Labour government  have left us in? The answer is quite simple.
Stop the Barnett formula - 15 years to clear debt
Leave EU - down to 10 years to clear debt
Give England independence from the Celtic 3 - 8 years to clear our debt

Instead the Tories and New Labour, will continue with the way things are and tax us and our children to the hilt. And will take over 30 years to clear debts.
The answer is simple, vote New Labour or Conservative and you get years of misery. Vote English Democrats, not only do we clear our debts faster with no tax hikes, but we are free forever from the Celtic 3 living off us.

Irish Yes vote

The Irish Yes vote is a disaster for England, they've allowed the EUssr fascist state to march on. And now the only way we have left of leaving the EUssr, is an armed uprising.

But every Prime Minister since Ted Heath, have sold us out, including the unelected Gordon Brown, and they must all be considered traitors to England.

Firstly though, we must  stop buying Irish goods to teach them a lesson. But England as we know it is dead.

Irish Vote

The Irish will be forced back to the polls time after time, until they vote the way their EUssr masters want them to vote.
This is what the EUssr is all about, no democracy, nobody not giving these unelected penpushers any hassle. The EUssr is now what the USSR used to be, undemocratic and fascist/communist.nazi, call it what you like it's all the same in the end.

We will all lose our rights, our countries will be carved up into regions, and we will be numbers. Our personal freedoms are being removed now, and most of us never got the chance to vote on whether we wanted it or not.

All the Prime ministers of the UK must be regarded as traitors since Ted Heath, they've all sold us out to this unelected fascist state. The only way we can get out of it now is by civil war, the ballot box doesn't work. Watch for more violence in the EUssr in the coming years, the Police will carry out their unknown masters work without argument, after all they do it now and in a criminal manner. What will they be like without restraints?

Will the last person to leave the EUssr please turn out the lights.

Browns speech

It seems Gordon Brown is yet again ignoring the English, despite the fact that we make up 76% of the UK population. He bleeds us dry via the Barnett Formula, to give the Scots a higher standard of living than we get. He's given the Celtic 3 devolved governments, at the expense of the English, yet won't allow the English a parliament of their own.

Time to break up the UK is here, we can't afford the parasites bleeding us dry. We can't afford the unelected prime minister Gordon Brown, and we can't afford the close links to the US and fight their war for oil for them. Nor can we afford the EUssr stripping us of powers in our own country, not to mention a membership fee in the billions.

Brown must go, through the ballot box is good, but please don't shoot him through the head - he doesn't keep any vital organs there.

2010 Elections

It was confirmed today that I'll be standing as an MP for the English Democrats, at the 2010 elections. It'll be an interesting election, we have a Conservative standing and he's with Opus Dei and controlled from Italy. Not sure who the New Labour candidate is yet, but their support will come from Skelmersdale, that lot in Skem would vote for a dog painted red if you called it labour.
I got over 5,000 votes in the Euro elections this year, I'm hoping people are so sick of the crooked parties that they vote for an honest person for a change.

EUssr buy Ireland

It seems that the owner of Ryan Air, has allegedly, sold out the Irish people to the EUssr. The price? his being able to buy Aer Lingus.
The EUssr is paying millions of euros, to buy the Irish vote. And many who were hardline No voters seem to have folded, how much money was involved in that?
What do we call people who, allegedly, sell out their own country? I wil never fly Ryanair, i urge yo uto boycott this company too.

Finished shooting

I finished shooting the Tiny Jousters last night, some scenes have been edited. I'd like this completed and on YouTube this week.
I've decided to create my own machinima advert for my SL properties, some will come from scenes from machinima already shot. Some are yet to be done, but won't take long now.
Machinima is good fun, but contagious,I'm already wondering what I can do to my pc to improve filming, or can I get better software than FRAPS :) Going down that road will easily blow a few hundred pounds from my bank account. It's at times like this that I'd like to see into the future :)

Machinima Awards

My latest Machinima Film, Swineflu, has been accepted into the M.A.G Awards 2009 in Second Life. I've been doing Machinima for about 3 months, and very pleased with this step forward.

Swineflu

I just got a does of swineflu, from some idiot who didn't use  a tissue to stop his sneezing out bugs in a small shop. I suspect others have come down with it too.
In disgust, I made a Machinima film in second Life about it. it can be seen at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjefXC5AAOM

Swine flu

It seems that I have swine flu, but to get tamiflu was a joke. NHS said got to your GP for help, GP's said got to the NHS. Still a disorganised joke, I got what I wanted, but had to put my foot down hard to get it.

How many people gave up on treatment because of this stupid system? can't you tell Gordon Bowns governemnt couldn't organise  a piss up in a brewery.

Party a Success

The opening party I threw for my guest artist, Elize Foxclaw was a success in SL. A steady flow of people came through, looked at the art, spoke to Elize and danced to the music I layed on.

A few Tinies played with the new catapault, and a few were flung from it. Got at least 30 metres too :)

2 steps forward 1 back

I'm continuing to create my digital art, I'm building new 3D items for sale in virtual worlds, and I'm working long hours to get it all to work.

Why then is Second Life hampering me by providing a worsening environment to work in? and then my own bank, Abbey soon to be Santander, isn't allowing me to make business pay in to my account?

Maybe the reason the economy isn't doing as well as it could, is because of being held back by dinosaurs running what should be forward thing businesses. And a weak government that bullies it's own citizens because it's being bullied by big business.

England is being turned into an asylum by the idiots running it, but companies abroad aren't helping matters either. I've been thinking of emigrating because of the mess England is in,and the lack of democracy here. But when I look around the world, is anywhere else any better?

SL Instability

Second Life has become so unstable recently, that Linden Labs must be in breach of their own TOS.

Avatars unable to move, logged out for teleporting, items disappearing from inventory, scripted items not working properly, and the list goes on. Many people pay to be in SL, many run legitimate businesses there and they are not getting value for money anymore. SL is not fit for purpose anymore, it has patch upon patch upon patch in its software and that is enough to make it quirky.

Has anyone out there got a virtual world with a proper economy? SL is going to crash soon, and it may not get up again.

Latest Machinima

Completed editing Tinies on Ice yesterday, 12th September 2009. Added music and uploaded it to YouTube, it's at

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EhLQk44XgA

New Tinies Shop

Just built a new shop for tinies in SL. There are 3 designer builders involved, and the range of items for sale is wide, and at reasonable prices too.
Clothes and accessories, cars, showers, bicycles etc and new items being added all the time. It's on my Fhang Tiny land at Nordloop and is called LAB Tiny Supplies.

Crashes continue

SL has been crashing now since last Saturday, 29th August, and continues to crash. Whatever the Lindens are doing, it isn't sorting the problems, and people continue to suffer and businesses are losing money.

Their inworld staff aren't all competent either, I filed a ticket about not being able to join a new piece of land I'd bought to my current land. I gave them exact co-ordinates of properties, and they still managed to look at the wrong ones. It's costing me time and money, not being able to link that land together. Time to sue them for damages I think.

Why do I.T software, and games companies, assume they can prrovide a bad service while taking your money? It's a breach of contract, and more people need to bring them up short and force them to put things right.

SL crashes

Over the last 5 days, Second Life has crashed me out twice a day on average. Today, it crashed me out and it took me over an hour to get back in again.

What kind of industry charges you to use their services which may or may not work, and could crash at any time. And who ignores your complaints? oftyen with our consumer protection services loath to do anything about? Until this is  sorted we'll continue to be ripped of by SL,  and many of us have a substantial investment in that virtual world.

Did some checking with friends,a  lot of work has been undone costing us a few hundred pounds, and Lindens are saying it's nothing to do with them. It's like a modern con that nobody will do anything about. Problem is, no other virtual worlds are of any use for commercial use.

My work In Twilights Peace

I've  just hung several of my artworks in Twilights Peace Gallery in SL, a great place for artists to be seen and it helps charity too.
The gallery is at  http://slurl.com/secondlife/Shiki/158/101/23

Chilling out

Spent most of today chilling out and fishing with a good friend, Hibrida, in SL. We entered contests, and won several and spent most of the day fishing and talking.

It shows what a small world we have, and how our paths can cross without us knowing about it.But it also shows one of the better points of virtual worlds, I spent the day in the company of a young woman from California and neither of us had to travel anywhere. We spent the day fishing and didn't harm any fish, and just talked about what interested us. Thousands of miles apart, yet cosy talks with our avatars closing the distance for us.

I also spent some time today working on the latest area on my land, an ice area. It looks like something from a snowstorm meets icy lake, with a mist coming through often. I'll sort out the weather for it, and have snow falling, and snowball fights. I can see it being ideal for many uses, should be finished this week I hope.

SL Wedding

Went to a wedding in SL last night, two old friends got married, it was an imaginative set of vows they exchanged. Comments like - unto no rez will we remain faithful, but all done with beautiful music and it was surprisingly moving.
I gave the bride away, and acted as brides champion riding my specially dressed up pony. As a tiny I still didn't come up to the brides shoulder, after sitting on my pony :)

Good day

Won 3 fishing contests today in sl, trophies, money and custom catches. An sl fishers delight :)

My Lucky Tribe kudos booster went live today, traffic shot up. Early comments indicate they liked prizes I put out, the way of things to come I hope.

Lucky Tribe

Running  a business in SL means keeping your finger on the pulse of things, making new items often and linking up with those who can help you.

I've just added a lucky chair for tinies to my Fhang Tiny Land area, and hopefully ir will be linked into the Lucky Tribe group. I joined them a few weeks ago, they need builders etc to bring new products to their members and their members are looking for new items.

I offer items for sale, and things to do, so linking with this group makes sense to me as a business. And it's good fun joining in with what they do, I've earned 400 kudos points in the last week and will be earning more, and enjoying myself in the months ahead.

From a business and personal point of view, it's a useful way forward and hopefully mutually beneficial.

update

My SL fishing is coming along well, I'm going to have to put another shelf up for the trophies, all are gold to bronze and thankfully no dust in a virtual world :)

I'm looking at adding on more things to do for tinies at Fhang Tiny Land, if I can find an animator and scripter to help me. That should be done early next month, and will hopefully increase the visits.

Still can't understand why the bigger Tiny areas, won't ally themselves with me. I'm offering what they don't, and vice versa, it's a complementary thing. Maybe because they're not controlling my lands, an ego thing. Because of it some tinies will lose out.

Latest Machinima

Just uploaded my latest Machinima film to YouTube and Atom.com. My first film made up of clips shot seperately, and using titles. No music yet.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ka9M40skDUQ

Fishing & building

Entered a fishing competition today in SL, and came second. Got a trophy, some money and a prize:) My first win that high up the score board.

I built a raft to use in one of my Machinima films, I turned the root prim by accident and when I sailed the raft it kept flipping over on its right side. Didn't take long to turn it into firewood :)

Up levels

Entered a big fishing contest last night, got to level 7, and came 6th in the contest. My best personal scores yet :)
Off to do new machinima with my tiny starring again :) and to build a tiny sailing, fishing and sea kayaking area for a friend. Who has time for fun in SL ? :)

7 Seas

Just added 7 Seas fishing to my castle moat, pulled out 2 hammerhead sharks and thought they were my security :)
It's an addictive game though, just found out that all the pieces of junk you find can be used to build items. Glad I hadn't thrown them out.

Also did a video of my hamster fishing, will get it uploaded soon.

Machinima

My Machinima, films made in virtual worlds, can now be seen on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Machinima.com in the next few days.

This is a new move for me, and I'm enjoying it. Not only is it fun to make, but it has real earning potential. I'm talking about short adverts, and PR films. Plus Second Life has television stations, so I should be able to play through them. And if my memory serves me well, I have a TV screen that can play my streaming Machinima.

I do find it sad that YouTube software is so contrary on uploads, make it stable and it's great, at the moment it's frustrating.

I'll have to look at streaming my Machinima through this website.

Party

We had the opening party for my new galleries and attractions in SL last night, good fun, good friends and good music makes a great time.
I enjoyed doing the fireworks, at one point all the tinies were laying on their backs watching the fireworks, its the best way for them to view it all :) I'll log into Flickr to see how many photos etc posted from them :)

My Machinima is coming along, one of my latest is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ng928SKYEwY

Twitter

My blogs are now on Twitter, under the name of Blunt Fhang.

I've got rid of all shops and galleries in SL, I bought 15,000 sq metres of land. I've added 2 galleries to it, a Tiny jousting and practice area, a Tiny BMX circuit, and  a Pirate Plunder game. I also now have 4 cottages for rent.

I still create my art, but am wondering about slowing it down because of the recession. I make more in SL now from my 3D modelling than from my art, even though many models are textured with my art.

Galleon Gallery

In Second Life I've been working with Tinies (very small avatars, often cute furry animal types) I adopted a tiny avatar myself so I could make everything to scale.

I'm outfitting a galleon as a gallery and shop for tinies, the story is I captured it single handed and took it to be used to improve culture. When i took the ship, I did forget to mention the crew weren't on board at the time, but then they shouldn't have been so careless with their guarding the vessel :-)

All of my 3D models are being resized to suit tinies, about 120 items altogether, and of course I'm adding things specifically for them. Like a fire engine I'm currently building, then I'll be looking at a house and a houseboat.

I was surprised at just how many tinies there are in Second Life, and it's a huge market for me. It's certainly given my interests a spur ro create new items and art. My latest shop is in RaglanShire, it's a 50 prim place, in the treetops.

Good week

The last week went well in Second Life.
The St George's day party went well with plenty attending, I sold 36 top hats with the St George's flag on them through XStreet. Photos from the party can be seen at  http://www.flickr.com/photos.kenwalters
The Saving England group has  a few members now, and I expect it to grow.

The handbag range is getting interest, and selling. I've now put them in all my galleries.

My galleries have been restocked with new art, and some new sculptures.

St.George's Day

A party has been organised within Second Life for St. George's day. I've had some input with items for the event, but it's all down to a friend with some spare land a a lot of drive. See you there on the 23rd.

More travels

On my travels around Second Life, I visited Splintered Rock. 2 photos are in my SL Gallery. It's based on the Dune books, and some of the factions mentioned in the book are here.
For steampunks it adds another dimension to your roleplay, both desert and  rock tunnels for your use. The sim looks small from the air, but you can be linked to other parts of it by tp or by ornithopters which are the 'public' transport here.
Vooper Werribee is the one to contact for more information.

Politics

I was asked today to stand as an MEP in the elections this June, as a North west England candidate for the English Democrats. I was already going to stand as a County Councillor for my home town, so things are about to get busy. Life is certainly not boring.

Old bronze items

I'm setting out a display at the Untold Ark on Monday 15th March. This will be pottery, but with a twist. I'm putting out pottery from 2,000BC to 2,000AD, but to confuse people, and to get them guessing; I've textured all of them with an Old bronze effect. This is to get them looking at the form of the items and not the colour schemes of the originals. It's like camouflaging evidence, and will be interesting to see what people make of art presented like this.

RFL 2009

The RFL 2009 event is now underway in Second Life, it's a way to raise money for the American Cancer Society. People in Second Life are often generous when it comes to giving money to charities, and the RFL event is now an annual event.
I've put 4 donation kiosks up in my galleries and shops, and donated a sculpture created for the event and a work of art specially made for being auctioned at night. The image lights up at night, and looks like galaxies and gas clouds.

New items

The artwork from March is coming through now, so will be added in the next few days.

I've just added 3D models of Roman Samian ware to my Second Life items, that's both red and black types, plus the Celtic granite ware used in kitchens  in England in 1st C AD. I've also added an ancient Greek Vase. These items are added to my medieval collection of models in Second Life now, and I'm hoping to go back further in history for pottery and glass items.

NMC Exhibition

I've just hung several of my images, and sculptered art on the 3rd floor of the NMC, at NMC Campus West in SL. Everywhere you look on the campus you see art of one kind or another, here's the online newsletter of theirs
http://sl.nmc.org/   if you're in SL it's worth looking at.

Untold Ark

The Untold Ark now stocks my experimental artwork. The street outside the Gallery has 5 of my large sculptures on it, with plenty of space around them to take a good look.
Inside on the 1st floor, I have my experimental sculptured 2D images; some have no background but if you look at them from the back they disappear, plus my miniature sculptures.
This work has been good fun for me to create, I've done several pieces like this, now I'm off to see what else I can come up with.

New Gallery and Shops in SL

I'm in the process of fitting out my latest gallery in SL, it hovers above Blues Island. On the ground at Blues Island I have 1 of 2 sculpture parks, I have an unusual method of creating abstract sculptures and they range between 10m and 60m high.
I also do the large sculptures in miniature versions, to fit on coffee tables. I've also created sculpture pictures, these are my artwork and sculptures combined. They are to hang on the walls, they can be altered to go from a smooth 2D effect to curved and then spiky 3D effects.

I know have 2 galleries, 4 shops and 2 sculpture parks.

New 3D models in SL

I've just created a small range of 3D items for sale in Second Life. They range from a scent bottle to a tent, and are intended for the Steampunk market.
The tent is like those used by the British army in the 19th C, or by Boy scouts in the 20th C. I've given them a serrated edge to look like a cog, and textured them to look like rusty, riveted metal. if you're wondering why, then look up Steampunk and you'll see what the genre is about.

I'm also looking at renting a shop purely for the Steampunk items, that way I can seperate the Steampunk from my abstract art gallery and run them both as seperate arms of the same business.

Flying gallery in sl

I've just changed my gallery in Second Life to a Steampunk flying platform. It's an unusual setting for contemporary abstract art. My avatar is still a copper clockwork gentleman, with a brain that works; you can tell that from the moving cogs you can see in its head.

Steampunk is essentially an overly ornate, steam or clockwork, or  fantastical power source, applied to many things. The Victorians did have steam or electrical mechanical men, not many but a simple search will find them for you. The Steampunk idea is said to have come from Cyberpunk, but applying ideas from H.G.Welles and Jules Verne, amongst others. I regard it as an alternative history.

Second Life Gallery

I've just completed a small gallery in Second Life, it has my latest artwork on dispaly and for sale in SL. It's at Nordloop 19, 124, 153 , you will need an SL account to view it.My avatars name is Blunt Fhang.

Changes to site

Changes to this website are almost complete, the link pages and business information will be updated.
My latest art images from 2009 have started to be added to the site, and the 2008 images have been updated to December 2008.
There will be business changes very soon, I signed a contract with Noenga.com to lease my artwork, and I expect to be signing a contract this month with DaveKirkwood.com to market my work globally.
I'm also about to open a new art gallery in Second Life, it wil link my website to SL, and to businesses selling or leasing my work.

I have to say I'm feeling optimistic and upbeat about 2009.

Website undergoing change

This website is currently being rebuilt over the next few days, my apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. The rebuilding should be completed by January 2009, and will contain a lot more art plus better organised links pages.

Exhibition

I've been offered an exhibition in January 2009, and it's in its original digital form for my art.
The exhibition will be at The Engine Rooms, unit 4 Westgate, Skelmersdale, Lancashire, WN8 8AZ.
www.engine-rooms.co.uk
The Engine Rooms are also on Facebook.

The local council, West Lancashire District Council, are now putting up the business rates for this unique digital centre by 400%. How's that for stupidity trying to strangle a creative centre which teaches, has a recording studio and space for gigs, shows art and is a meeting place for different artists.

Polaris award

I've just been awarded a Polaris award for August, it's given by a business start up unit I'm linked to. Northern Lights is a group of artists and craftspeople, and along with the business incubation units at the Media Factory, UCLAN, Preston, England they make up the groups entitled to a Polaris award.

It's basically a recognition that my business advanced the most in August, from the groups I'm involved with. I get a trophy/plaque, a cheque for £250 and PR in local papers.

My business advanced the most in August following a PR campaign in the national press, in England, with the help of Linda Preston. Linda is a freelance writer with plenty of good contacts.

Mobile phone downloads

As of  19th July some of my art wil be available from the Chi-Qi.com site. I've gone with Chi-Qi because of their raison d'etre, they're also a small independent company and not a part of some multi national corporation. Chi-Qi believe in what they do with art and music, we artists and customers aren't another number in their computer database.

Chapel Gallery

Some of my prints are now available at the Chapel Gallery, St.Helens Road, Ormskirk, Lancashire, England.
Phone 01695 571328  website  http://www.westlancsdc.gov.uk/chapelgallery

That now makes 3 galleries stocking my work in  N.W England

PAD Gallery

I'm pleased that the PAD Gallery in Preston, England is now stocking some of my work for sale. They have prints and greetings cards.
The Gallery has moved and is being fitted out now, and it's looking like a good space for art with plenty of space and light. It will open on Friday 1st August 2008.

Address is PAD, 10-14 Market Street, Preston, Lancashire, EnglandPR1 2AR.
Telephone  01772  903471
E-mail is pad@preston.gov.uk

It will be open  from Tuesday to Saturday each week.

Spore™ Creatures

I'm now designing a range of creatures for the Spore™  online game by EA games.
Initially I'm using them on the range of products I have on zazzle, plus the greetings cards I'm starting to make. And of course you can see most of them on the Spore™ Gallery on this website.

Hotdesking at Northern Lights

I'm now back at my old university 'Hotdesking'. That basically means using their Media Factory facilities and contacts to help further my business, I get to use their computers, broadband and phones. Plus I get to access their networks of help and advice.

If you're a creative based in Lancashire why not contact nlights@uclan.co.uk

Zazzle

I now use my art on a wide range of items at Zazzle. T-shirts from babies to adult, mugs, bags, coasters etc see for yourself at  http://www.zazzle.com/taxus194*

T-shirts

I've now started creating t-shirt designs for   www.redbubble.com  under kenwalters. Some are straight abstract art, some are puzzles, but they're not the cartoon types with their supposed humour.
If you want to add a splash of style to a t-shirt why not try mine.

Daz Studio

To give my artwork an extra dimension I've just started using Daz  Studio software, I'm thinking of sci-fi and fantasy type images in true 3D. My own software is fine for 2 1/2D, but I want a little something extra. I'll let you know how things go.

Wooloo Exhibition

I now have an exhibition of 7 of my images on our body tissues and cells at  <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.wooloo.org/new/s3/swf/slideshow.swf" FlashVars="id=6511" height="234" width="300"><param value="http://www.wooloo.org/new/s3/swf/slideshow.swf" name="movie"/><param value="transparent" name="wmode"/><param value="all" name="allowNetworking"/><param value="always" name="allowScriptAccess"/><param name="FlashVars" value="id=6511"/></object>

Caverns in Second Life

Two things happened yesterday, I remodelled the lake bed of my Hollow Mountain gallery, and I added a layer of caverns . The caverns will be used for art exhibitions and live music events.

I also get to use the
inSL and Second Life logos for my business, it's like being accredited by SL.

Digital Arts Magazine

Since starting to build this web gallery I had my work profiled in Digital Arts Magazine, April 2008, page 017.I hope those in the digital industry looking for an artist read it ;-) I've also been interviewed for the Liverpol Echo, Liverpool is about 20 miles away from where I live.

I've also completed phase 1 of my Second Life gallery in a hollow mountain, it may seem an odd thing to build but please remember Second Life's physics are not those of the real world. I built the mountain up from the  base, deliberately making it hollow. I flooded it then scattered my art, pottery and glassware around the lake bottom. To make it more interesting I built a 'beach area' above the gallery and put in water specially scripted for avatars to swim in, plus inflatble beds to float around the lake on. Phase 2 is now underway, I'm excavating the mountain base, and creating caverns to hold my  art as well as to add a slightly spooky underwater experience. It will be searchable by avatars using  scuba equipment, or by undersea avatars like Merfolk, silkies etc. Phase 3 is still on the drawing board, but will include a white water rafting experience. The idea is to appeal to as many as possible, some of the build is business, including conferences,  some of it  is social.

My hunt for agents to help me sell my work is still ongoing, and was one of the main reasons for building this web gallery. So if you're  an agent selling to industry under licence, or a buyer  for an Interior Design or Home Interiors companies please contact me. Same applies to those writing for magazines in those industries.
